Telecom Italia announces Z-SIM with built-in radio
From Engadet:
Telecom Italia has developed a SIM card with a built-in radio (similar to the W-SIM card pictured) for use with pay-per-view TV, toll roads, and parking meters, allowing any Telecom Italia Mobile phone to connect to the device and pay up. The Z-SIM SIM Card also works for controlling household appliances and for computer file management, with its diminutive size making embedding the functionality more a question of will than ability. They’re planning on rolling it out next year — in Italy of course — so fire up that phone of yours and get purchasing. So the phones would be even more valuable, and we'd get even more thief looking for cellphones. I am curious if my Italian friends have heard about this. Tommy?
